The Jester

I went on stage,
to perform the greatest illusion.
I went on stage,
but I was in a mental confusion.

I turned diamonds into dust,
I turned my breath into fire.
Made my audience dazzled,
and made the crowds thunder.

I cut my skin,
and made the wounds disappear.
I lied to my kin,
and yet I, they endear.

I went on stage,
to perform the greatest trick.
I went on stage,
and hid the greatest lunatic.

Everyone cheered and clapped,
awaiting the final act.
Fooled them all,
with a simple card trick.

No one had seen the sadness
behind the jesters smile
No one had seen the madness,
behind the jesters versatility.

I went on stage,
to perform the greatest illusion.
I went on stage,
but I was in a mental confusion.

Ended with a smile,
my little show for fools.
