His Daughter

He has a young daughter,
so innocent and so naive.
Loves her endlessly,
but never does he express.

As the time passed the little girl
grew up and built up her walls.
For one event had changed
his boundless love for her.

He started questioning her,
and taunting her for her mistakes.
It broke her heart,
so she cried and cried.

What a cruel world we live in,
she would think every night.
Her father wouldn’t forgive her,
even for a silly little mistake.

As the days turned to years,
the distance between them grew.
So he sailed on a ship,
the ship of grief and anger.

She tried to make things right,
for she was now older and wiser.
But every time she came one step closer,
he went two steps father away from her.

The girl grew disheartened,
with life and with her father.
So she too sailed on a ship,
the ship of grief and anger.

But the girl wasn’t like her father,
so she drowned with her ship
into the open arms of the ocean.

He had a young daughter,
so innocent and so naive.
